IGCP Project 559 - Seismic Images

Australia

Waite Creek Thrust, Ngalia Basin, central Australia.
Transect across the northern margin of the Palaeozoic Ngalia Basin, central Australia. This 1967 transect clearly shows Proterozoic granitic basement material thrust over the younger Ngalia Basin sediments along a major structure, the Waite Creek Thrust.

Emu Plains – Atomic Bomb Recordings, Australia
Transect of Deep Seismic Sounding recordings of the 1953 atomic bomb tests at Emu Plains. Section shows clear Moho reflections and fundamental subdivision of the crust.

Mildura, New South Wales, Australia
Deep Seismic Sounding Transect recorded in 1968 in Mildura, New South Wales showing clear Moho reflections and fundamental subdivision of the crust.

Australian National Seismic Imaging Resource (ANSIR)
Summary document detailing commencement and selected achievements of ANSIR, initially called the ANSIR, the Australian National Seismic Imaging Resource and now called ANSIR, the National Research Facility for Earth Imaging.

Tasman Orogen Transect, Eastern Australia
Transect across the Tasman Orogen of eastern Australia, a well-preserved region of continental accretion and land mass addition.

Central Australian Basins Transect, Australia
Transect across a series of major E-W gravity anomalies and a Precambrian orogen showing major Moho offsets.
